Zurich Airport Spotting Guide

Zurich Airport is the biggest airport in Switzerland. It is the hub for a variety of airlines, such as SWISS, Edelweiss Air and Helvetic Airways. The Runway usage at Zurich Airport is quite difficult for foreign plane spotters: 
Note that the following time tables comply with the Swiss and German holidays. On those holidays the same runway usage is equal with the usage on Saturday and Sunday.

North Approach Plan
Normal Operations

Normal Operation Hours:
MO - FR: 07:00 to 21:00*
SA & SO: 09:00 to 20:00*

*also in the evening if wind is blowing from north-eastern direction.

Take Off: 28 and 16, rarely 10 instead of 28
Landing: 14

East Approach Plan
West Wind Operations

Normal Operation Hours:
MO - FR: 21:00 to end
SA & SO: 20:00 to end

If wind is blowing from west, this Approach Plan is in use.

Take Off: 34 and 32, rarely 28
Landing: 28

Normal Morning Operations

Normal Operation Hours:
MO - FR: 05:30 to 07:00*
SA & SO: 05:30 to 09:00*

*also in the evening if wind is blowing from north-western direction.

Take Off: 34 and 32, rarely 28
Landing: 34
